How Long Can I Have a Permitted Temporary Dwelling Unit on My Property?
Ordinance 5685 requires temporary structures, inclusive of those used as dwelling units permitted under a state or local emergency proclamation under section 127A-14, Hawaii Revised Statutes, to be permitted initially for forty-two (42) months, after which the property owner may apply for an automatic permit extension for no more than eighteen (18) additional months from the date of the initial permit expiration.
