In observance of the one-year mark since the Aug. 8, 2023, Maui wildfires, the Office of Recovery-West Maui in Lahaina Gateway will be closed on Thursday, Aug. 8, 2024.

The office will open Friday, Aug. 9, for a condensed schedule from 8 to 11 a.m. and 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. Normal operating hours will resume Monday, Aug. 12.

In addition to the Office of Recovery-West Maui, re-entry and contractor placard pick-up is also available in Wailuku at the County of Maui Department of Personnel Services in the Kalana O Maui building, 200 S. High St., from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Walk-ins are welcome. Home/property owners must present a picture ID.

Several agencies work out of the Office of Recovery-West Maui, with various days and hours of operation, which are subject to change. As of Aug. 5, 2024, the operating hours for each agency is as follows:

• Maui Emergency Management Agency (re-entry/contractor placard pick-up), Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
• Federal Emergency Management Agency, Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
• U.S. Small Business Administration, Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
• 4LEAF (emergency building permits), Monday to Friday, 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
• Maui County Councilmember Tamara Paltin and staff, Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
• County Office of Economic Development/business partners, Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
• Maui AIDS Foundation/Kaiser Permanente/Imua, Tuesday and Thursday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
• Project Vision (SNAP and MedQuest), Thursday, 9 a.m. to noon.
• Maui Economic Opportunity, Wednesday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
• United Policyholders, Friday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
• Pono Legal, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
• Native Hawaiian Legal Corp., first and third Wednesday of the month, 10:30 a.m.  to 4:30 p.m.
